It was the perfect Miami night, clear skies, gentle breezes and Reggae festival in the park. 16th Caribbean (formerly Marley) Festival Jammin 'along the bay and the downtown park was rammed. Located between Capleton and Ky-Mani is an expensive, show-stealing Buju Banton ignited the crowd with 60-minute set that left fans yelling "Go!" If you have not seen before Buju, or if you are on time, the presentation and professionalism will also clamoring for more. (See review of Fest)
I caught up with the 36-year-old Rasta lion after it was mind-blowing performance and congratulated him on an outstanding show. "It was my first Bob Marley Fest in Miami, and I wanted to do something different from ordinary, "he said smiling Buju, "I wanted to get out of the Dancehall bit and do something special." On stage he was wearing a casual gray with white trim, button-down sweater with a hole slick pants and fro 'shoes, his dreadlocks flying and skanking knees lifted up his chin, Buju was flawless performances artfully segued from dance hall to the Roots for lovers of Rock. Sometimes sounding like its icons Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, there have been moments where he sounded (and looked) like Lucky Dube. "I'm really and truly show these people that ... hey, I'm Buju Banton! When I mentioned that he gave all the people, he quickly interjected, "I show them all. I wanted to do a little more ... Ska, and more could be added, but true, my time was short."

'He quickly added: "I did not get my popularity with the masses through the malaise. I worked hard on it good music. I made good music to play on the radio, and my music is air-worthy."
